Kids on College Break

Day 22/30 – I’m kind of cheating and doing two thanks today. I’m thankful for family traditions and for our young ones home on college break.

Last night Chris and I met Hudi and Mollie at a theater in Syracuse to watch the Warren Miller film. A traditional kick-off to our snowboarding season.

We’ve been going as a family for four or five years, and it’s always exciting. Last year there were about 15 of us at the film (family and close friends) since it was on CJ and Lauren’s wedding weekend, and we had family and wedding party members with us. This year it was only four of us, but I knew our family was connected to the event in spirit.

The film was my favorite one so far. They really played with the cinematography to an impressive extent. I felt like it was an art exhibit displayed in impressive surroundings. Such a treat!

We talked about the show on the way out and all agreed that it’s magical because it gets you feeling as if you are out in the mountains. For me, personally, it inspires me and makes me think anything is possible. I love winter!

We went home and yakked until midnight over grilled cheese sandwiches and chips and salsa (I’m breaking my diet for the week of Thanksgiving celebrations).

I’m officially off work until Monday so we can now relax and enjoy. (Did I just slip in a third “thanks”? Bad me! — But life is too short to limit the appreciation of the goodness.)

  • For November (the month in which we celebrate Thanksgiving in the US), I’m trying to blog about something for which I’m thankful for each day of the month.
