Gotta admit. That was one of my favorite Easter Sundays ever. No fancy dresses, no muss no fuss. I woke up at the crack of 10 am (how lazy can one get?) so I’d be ready for 10:30 Zoom church. A few minutes later, Zeb called and we got to talk with Zeb, Bri, Mollie and Hudi, who were decorating and celebrating together in Utah (they all live together).
Not only did we get to see our smart grand-dogs figure out how to find and open Easter eggs, but we found the kids had been busy continuing a family tradition.
Back in the day Chris and I got so fed up with all the candy the kids were getting everywhere that we gave them an Easter basket filled with painted fruit. I believe we called the painted watermelon a dinosaur egg 🙂
The kiddos are much more artistic that we are. I am impressed with their creativity.
We attended a couple of church services online — it was interesting to see the variety in styles from the churches that are new to the Zoom thing and those that have been recording for years. Both positive experiences, but very different.
Mom made a delicious fruit cup to indulge in during church. I was going to treat myself to whipped cream in my coffee, but the grocery store had run out. Then I found out Mom had a stash, and she didn’t want it. Super treat for me 🙂
After services we got a message from CJ, which contained a treasure. He had digitized a copy of Dad Pollock’s Easter service from decades ago. (He was a preacher for those who don’t know.)
Later, we went for a walk and Chris and I saw definite signs of spring.
Back home, I attended my virtual dance class, and we talked with CJ, Lauren and Avalon. I think nothin’ warms a Grandma’s heart like seeing the grandbaby in action.
We topped off the day with a wonderful lamb dinner with Mom. My sister-in-law knew we were trying to stay at home, and she arranged for the dinner to be delivered. We had been looking forward to it all week, and it did not disappoint. Sooooo good.
Thanks to these activities and countless texts and emails from family and friends, the day was filled with love, family and faith. To me the real reasons to live. It was an Easter to remember for its beautiful simplicity.
