This is a fun thing. My aunt is an amazing writer and a gift to the blogosphere. Before that she typed out communications and her takes on daily life for the entertainment of our family. She is truly a gifted person. My uncle saved her old letters, and now she is putting them on her blog.

She wrote about my visit to her family when they were in England on https://amehrling.com/. I was nine years old.

Last week I was in our New York place and found my journal from that summer. My mom made me write it as we traveled Europe. I resented it at the time, but now I think it’s fun — so yay, Mom! You win 😉

Here are my journal entries of the England part of the trip:

I hope you appreciate the phenomenal artist I am and was at the age of nine. haha. Definite sarcasm there…

If you read my aunt’s blog (which you should if you appreciate great writing about everyday life), you will note that she often touts grandson Nate’s cooking prowess. Now you know where it came from. It’s her genes. Proof there from the 1980s in a journal entry touting the WONDERFUL dinner 🙂
