PenPals

I first heard of Dalia when I was about nine years old. My aunt and uncle and cousins went to work at an orphanage on Mindanao that year and met Dalia and her family, who also worked there. She and I were around the same age, and we became pen pals.

For years we wrote each other on thin, airmail parchment that took up to six weeks to arrive at a destination. But the friendship remained solid.

As we grew older, our lives changed. She moved on, and I changed addresses as well. Sadly, we lost touch with each other. She was often in my thoughts, and several times I tried to find her using the Internet. This year, I found her, and we reconnected.

Although she is twelve hours ahead of me in life, her morning and night check-ins bring me great joy. She makes my oncoming days brighter. I am truly thankful for Dalia and our friendship.

Thankful for my Goofy Husband

Goofy. Not Mickey. Haha 🙂 The company I worked for had a Grand Meetup in Orlando this year, and when I came home, my husband greeted me with this:

Know what it’s made of? My favorite — Ring Dings!!!! Is he the best, or what?!?!

**For the month of November each year, I try to focus on something I’m thankful for each day. It is the month that holds Thanksgiving where I live, after all. Focusing on the positive and remembering the little things that make life great is something I should do more often. Book Clubs and Bible Studies

I’ve been missing regular meetings with friends sharing thoughts on books and Bible passages, but I’m traveling enough that joining a group isn’t really practical. After searching online I came across sites such as the Women’s Bible Cafe. It’s perfect for me!

Right now we are studying Elijah, and beginning late November we are going to discuss the book The Women of Christmas: Experience the Season Afresh with Elizabeth, Mary, and Anna by Liz Curtis Higgs.

The group meets something like 15 times a week, accounting for different time zones and schedules. If you can’t make your regular time, you just join another group. Or skip a week. All communication is done via typing so shaky networks are not a problem (as I discovered yesterday while traveling).

I’m thankful to share thoughts and opinions on books and studies in a way that works with my current life situation.

Cute Little Creatures

IMG_7626Woolly bears are always fun to see in the autumn. They bring super happy memories for me since they were all over the place when we brought our first child home from the hospital after he was born.

Look how adorable this one is.
