Today our middle son turned 18. As any self-respecting mother would do, I spent last evening sifting through old photos and reminiscing.
This is the child who inspired me to make comments I never would have thought to hear coming out of my mouth: “No headstands in the bathtub, Zeb!” (Don’t know why I bothered saying that since his 3-year-old head was under water anyway, and he couldn’t hear me).
Our journey with Zeb has been filled with concern (serious health issues when he was little), joy, wonder and untold love. He is a gift to our family, and I’m excited to see where the next steps on his life journey take him.
I totally agree with Kent Nerburn’s quote:
Until you have a son of your own… you will never know the joy, the love beyond feeling that resonates in the heart of a father (and I add mother) as s/he looks upon his/her son.
