On a recent flight home, I was gifted with a beautiful view our our mountain and our windmill. The Zephyr. On a whim, I decided to create a poem about it, but the creative part of my brain didn’t feel like writing poetry. So I threw some thoughts into MacGPT. Honestly — the results showed exactly how I feel about our windmill. Isn’t this beautiful?
In the shadow of the mountain’s crest,
Where snowy slopes in beauty rest,
Stands a sentinel against the sky,
A windmill named Zephyr, towering high.
Its sails spin with an ancient grace,
Capturing winds from every place,
As if whispering secrets to the air,
Tales of journeys, dreams, and care.
From afar, it’s a sight to behold,
A beacon of warmth in the cold,
A steadfast guide through dusk’s embrace,
Painting sunsets with heavenly grace.
From the window of a plane in flight,
Or on my daily commute’s twilight,
I catch a glimpse, a fleeting glance,
Of Zephyr’s dance, a timeless trance.
It beckons me with silent song,
A call to where I truly belong,
To the base of the mountain tall,
Where Zephyr waits, inviting all.
So let me follow its gentle call,
Back to where my heart finds its thrall,
To the base of the mountain’s dome,
Where Zephyr whispers, “Welcome home.”
My prompt for that was:
I live at the base of a ski resort. There is a windmill named Zephyr at the top of the mountain. We see great sunsets over the windmill. I can see the Zephyr from an airplane and from my work commute. It is like a beacon calling me home. Write a poem about the Zephyr.
And my inspiration:

That image with a lot of windmills near the Zephyr is super fun since those windmills are by our work space at MASS MoCA, where Chris has his studio. The large mountain there is Mt. Greylock — which provides literary inspiration for J.K. Rowling as well as for Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.

How lovely!!!!
That turned out nice!
Your poem is lovely, Chrissie. I enjoyed the video, too. It’s amazing you could zero in on it from the sky. Zephyr really was calling you home!
That was such a fun experience. 🙂
Those blades look like the arms of an eager friend who’s been waiting for you with a saved seat!
Love that image!
Hard to believe that this was written with AI. Still, very nice.
